Shani ‘Coomz’ Miller: soccer and overcoming setbacks!
Shani Miller is a hardworking talent box to box midfielder who plays with the KO Elites U23’s. Shani’s Instagram captions are always positive and uplifting. Growing up in Maxfield Park, Kingston, Jamaica had its trying moments but a tight, supportive family structure directed this dynamic midfielder to a path of success.
Why do you play soccer?
“I have a passion for soccer. I like the elements of the game like creativity, the dribbling, and of course the goals.”
Most memorable Soccer Moments
“In Jamaica when I played the Colts Competition for my High School, we were in the second round and had to score about 10 goals to advance to the next stage of the competition. The team who we had to pass in the table just had a huge victory. We scored 11 goals. I scored a hattrick and had 3 assists.”

Miller started playing the beautiful game at an early age in his hometown of Maxfield. He represented Rousseau Primary School where he honed his skills in his formative years. As he grew older, more opportunities appeared. He played with the Barbican U17 team before migrating and playing with F.C. International in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Now playing with 3rd Eye FC, Coomz as he is affectionately called, enjoys his time playing in midfield.

What motivates you?
“Family!” Family was critical in Coomz’s development and helped to shape his worldview. Shani Miller lost his mother in 2017 and was adversely affected by her passing. The creative deep-lying playmaker gave up on the game in the years preceding his mother’s untimely passing. Those close to Coomz tried to cajole him into returning him to his first love to no avail. It was one day in solace, in the summer of 2020 that it dawned on Shani that he could now allow his circumstance to determine his future. Shani had not played since the summer of 2019, grappled by his loss. Shani now shines with 3rd Eye FC in the middle of the park.

“I want to become a pro player. I also want to start my own clothing line. Family means a lot to me so I want to be in a position to take care of my family.”

Shani Miller, graduate of North East High School, Fort Lauderdale Florida, is a family man and motivated baller. Shani draws inspiration from his grandparents who survived hard times. Their stories have emboldened him to work hard and place himself in a position to be successful and provide for his family in the future.
